Tesco and B&M recall crips as do not eat warnings issued

The retail giants issued an urgent product recall on some of the Calbee crisps they were selling due to some ingredients not being declared on the label.

Calbee is urgently recalling their Calbee Hot & Spicy Chips because they contain mustard, which is not declared on the label.

They are also recalling their Calbee Pizza Chips because they contain celery which is not mentioned on the label.

In light of this Tesco and B&M are urging anyone who bought the crips not to eat them and have pulled the products from their shelves.

The recall affects 55g and 105g packets of Calbee Hot & Spicy Potato Chips with all best before date codes up to and including June 5, 2026.

The 55g packets of Calbee Pizza Potato Chips with all best before date codes up to and including April 28, 2026, are also being recalled.

Shoppers who bought the snack are advised to return it to their local store for a full refund.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “Calbee is recalling all best before date codes up to and including June 5, 2026, of Hot & Spicy Potato Chips 55g.

“This is due to the presence of undeclared mustard allergens which could pose a health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance of mustard.

“Calbee is also recalling all best before date codes up to and including April 28, 2026, of Pizza Potato Chips 55g.

“This is due to the presence of undeclared celery allergens which may pose a health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance of celery.

“If you have bought an affected product and have an allergy to, and/or intolerance of egg, mustard or celery, please do not eat it.

“Instead, return it to a Tesco store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.”

A B&M spokesperson said: “As a precautionary measure we are recalling the Calbee Pizza Crisps and Calbee Hot & Spicy Crisps due to a labelling issue with the potential risk of undeclared allergens (Mustard & Celery).

“Any customer who has bought the product is advised to retain the packaging and return the product to a B&M store where you will receive a full refund.

“Please note the Product went on sale in stores on August 17.

“If you have any questions, please contact Customer Services on 0330 838 9000. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

A Food Standards Agency spokesperson said: “Calbee Group UK Ltd is recalling Calbee Hot & Spicy Chips because they contain mustard and Calbee Pizza Chips because they contain celery which are not mentioned on the label.

“This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to mustard or celery.

“If you’ve bought the above products and have an allergy to mustard or celery, don’t eat them.

“Instead return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.
