Amendments and conditions
The council has approved several applications to amend planning conditions.
These include changes to dormer tile wording at 25 Gelyn Y Cler, Barry, a non-material amendment to 2000/00677/FUL for an apartment development comprising 92 units at Glan Y Mor, Y Rhodfa, Barry, and partial discharge of conditions for a forthcoming educational campus for Cardiff and Vale College at Barry Waterfront.
The latter involves materials details for the redevelopment of a brownfield site south of Hood Road, paving the way for new landscaping, related infrastructure and engineering works.
Storm porch
Permission has been granted for a front storm porch at 3 Ffordd Cwm Cidi, Barry.
The new porch must be built in accordance with approved plans and use materials that match the existing dwelling.
Biodiversity measures set out in the Planning & Climate change, (GI) Biological Diversity, Design & Access Statement must also be implemented within three weeks, with photographic evidence submitted to the council within four weeks of installation.
Any planting associated with these measures will be subject to a five-year replacement period.
Garage conversion
A retrospective application to convert an integral garage into a habitable room at 38 Rhodfa Felin, Barry, has been approved.
The original Certificate of Lawful Development was refused due to the removal of permitted development rights in relation to garage conversions under a previous planning permission.
The approved scheme, which is for a full planning application, includes removal of the garage door, installation of a 2.3-metre-wide window, and creation of a utility room.
All works must follow the approved plans, and external materials are required to match the existing house.
Biodiversity enhancements must be implemented within three weeks and retained for the duration of the development.
New garage
Plans have been approved to demolish an existing front garage and construct a new one as well as a single- and two-storey extension at St Nicholas, Romilly Park Road, Barry.
The revised proposal omits a previously included rear two-storey extension, following concerns about design and visual impact.
The new front extension features a two-storey element with garage and entrance at basement level, as well as a single-storey section.
Work must begin within five years, with a separate materials schedule to be approved before the development is brought into use.
Rear extension
A single-storey rear extension has been approved for 21 Montgomery Road, Barry.
Construction must begin within five years and proceed in line with approved plans.
Biodiversity measures outlined in the Green Infrastructure Statement must be completed before the extension is occupied, with planting subject to a five-year replacement period.
No additional windows may be installed in the side elevations beyond those shown in the approved plans.
