Side extension
Plans have been lodged for a single-storey side extension at 5 Bron Awelon, Barry.
The proposal includes internal remodelling and associated works.
The extension would be rendered to match the existing house, with a new casement window in a similar style.
In line with policy, the application also includes biodiversity improvements such as a bird nesting box and the planting of native species to support pollinators and local wildlife.
Tree works
Routine tree maintenance has been proposed at 24 Ael-y-Coed, Barry.
The application concerns a mature English oak tree subject to a Tree Preservation Order (No. 03 of 1991).
The planned work involves a two- to three-metre crown reduction to prevent interference with the house and neighbouring properties.
The applicant said similar works have been carried out in the past.
Conservatory demolition
Plans have been submitted to demolish the rear conservatory at 12 Hollyrood Close, Barry.
The structure will be replaced with a solid extension projecting five metres from the original rear elevation.
The existing aluminium conservatory, described as small and lacking ecological value, will be removed.
The replacement structure will use a blockwork and timber frame, faced in Cotswold brick to match the main house, with an EDPM flat roof.
The applicant states the new extension will be more energy efficient and pose less risk to birds due to reduced glazing.
Builder’s extension
Robert Price Builders’ Merchants on Cardiff Road, Barry, has submitted plans to extend its existing industrial building.
The application says that the development falls under permitted development rights under Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995 (the “GPDO”); as introduced by the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (Amendment) (Wales) Order 2014, Part 8 Class A.
Materials will match those on the current structure.
