Loft conversion and other works
A planning application has been submitted for a loft conversion and external and internal alterations at 36 Elfed Avenue in Penarth.
The scheme includes the construction of a rear dormer to create a new bedroom with an en-suite bathroom.
Internal works will see partition walls adjusted and a new staircase fitted, with an existing door opening blocked up and a wall removed to form a new bathroom.
Externally, a new driveway and vehicular crossover are also proposed, with part of the landscaped front garden due to be converted to accommodate vehicular access.
The rear garden will largely remain unchanged, retaining its existing soft landscaping, boundary vegetation, and permeable surfaces.
Biodiversity improvements form part of the proposals, including the installation of native planting and bird boxes.
Drainage and surface water management measures are also planned.
Work to trees
An application has been made for tree works at 17 St Augustine’s Road, Penarth.
The planned works include felling a contorted willow near ground level, pollarding a pittosporum at 1.8 metres, and reducing the crown of an apple tree by around one metre.
A snowball tree will have its mature stem coppiced, and a cotinus will be thinned to retain a low crown.
A group of cornus and laurel growing from a neighbouring property will be pruned to the boundary.
A small eucalyptus and a sycamore sapling in the front garden will both be felled and their stumps removed.
