Clubhouse redevelopment

Plans have been submitted for Barry Rugby Football Club to carry out extensive redevelopment works to its site on Merthyr Dyfan Road.

Proposals include extensions to the existing clubhouse, the addition of a new gymnasium, and alterations to the vehicular entrance.

A multi-use overspill car park is also planned.

The development will include the repurposing of green field space for parking and a training facility, with some existing brownfield land used for the new gym.

As part of the entrance improvements, one mature sycamore tree will be removed.

However, the scheme aims to enhance biodiversity with a row of poplar trees planted along the entry road and two areas of woodland planting featuring native species such as alder and hawthorn.

A bird box is also proposed for the rear of the clubhouse.

Energy performance improvements

An application has been submitted to discharge Condition 3 (Window Details) of previously approved planning permission at 35 The Parade.

The proposal involves proposed rooflights to rear roofslopes, replacement windows including existing rooflights, as well as the replacement of the roof and internal remodelling.

The application also includes the removal of the external rear staircase.

The new windows are designed to improve the home’s energy performance.

Thermal modelling of the frame profile has been designed using computer software in line with industry standards to ensure compliance with energy efficiency requirements.
