Retrospective extension
An application has been lodged to retain a single-storey side and rear extension at 17 Rutland Close, Barry.
The structure includes a garage, utility room, and enlarged kitchen and living area.
The build uses materials matching the original construction, with existing materials reused where possible.
The roof features concrete tiles matching the existing specification.
UPVC double-glazed windows and doors are to match the original fittings.
No evidence of bats or bird nests has been found in the roof space, subject to survey.
As a biodiversity measure, two bird boxes will be installed on the property’s side/rear fence, on opposite ends.
Change of use
A proposal has been submitted for 74 Holton Road, Barry, to convert upper-floor office space into a single two-bedroom apartment.
The 118-square-metre unit will occupy the building’s first and second floors.
The rear yard and parking area will be repurposed as private amenity space and allocated parking.
Access will be via a new external steel staircase.
Shopfront alteration
Plans have been submitted to update the shopfront at 30 Holton Road, Barry.
The new frontage will feature powder-coated aluminium with single glazing and fixed lights, mirroring the design at 62–66 Holton Road.
The stall riser will be finished with rendered blockwork, while the external roller shutter will be constructed from plastic-coated steel, accessible from inside.
Refurbishment of the existing stone pilasters is also included in the proposal.
Power generator
An application has been made to install a power generator and equipment cabinet at Jenner Park in Barry.
The development involves land adjacent to Jenner Park Stadium and is intended to serve an existing radio base station.
The equipment cabinet will be housed within the current compound, while the generator will be sited just outside due to space constraints.
Aligned with the existing infrastructure, the proposal is expected to have minimal visual impact.
