House extension
Plans for an extension to a property at 89 Porth-y-Castell have been approved.
The scheme includes a first-floor extension above the existing garage and a two-storey infill structure to the side and rear.
Internal remodelling is also planned, with all works finished to match the existing building.
Barry Town Council raised no objection to the principle of the development.
However, it noted that the proposed extension would appear “particularly large” from the rear.
The council said it would benefit from a visual break between the existing home and the new addition.
The council’s Heritage Planning Officer confirmed the proposal was in character with the area, but suggested removing the ground floor external overhang, which has been retained in the plans.
