Becky (Landlady) and Kyle (Landlord) Bulley delivered a night of ‘community’, at The Six Bells Inn on Thursday, April 2, 2026 with 60 plus of the local residents turning up in support.
Johnathan, an avid supporter of the Six Bells stated, “The pub is what the village needs!” The Barry and District Newspaper in attendance asked Johnathan, about the re-opening of the ‘Inn’. He said: “The whole village is delighted to have the pub open again fully, with its restaurant and excellent food. They have a great bar and kitchen staff. This is in a time when village pubs are disappearing all too quickly.”

Before the serving of ‘taster snacks’; which the ‘News’ were invited to sample – these were a delight, and a pint of Hancocks HB traditional Cask Ale; served at the Inn for generations, Kyle Bulley the Landlord standing alongside his wife, gave an epic memorable speech to recipients.
“Welcome to the grand re-opening of the Six Bells Inn and it’s restaurant! Tonight is informal with little nibbles, and a glass of something, a thankyou for showing so much support for us being here. Its been quite a couple of weeks professionally and personally to get to this point! Let’s enjoy ourselves, taking this forward, thankyou everyone!”
An important set of points was made by another firm supporter of the Six Bells Inn. Charlie told the Barry and District News: “It is great to have the pub back open, we had a period when the pub was closed, and it was horrid. The village of Penmark felt really sad to be without the pub, I am really glad to have the village back! I am over the moon to have food back in the pub also. Kyle and Becky can run the pub with there eyes closed, they know the customers.”

Charlie spoke with pride about her son, “Will is now working at the pub, it’s his first real job, its given him great confidence and to be working locally.”
As a Social community hub of the village, the Barry and District News enquired what this means for children and others who do not necessarily use a pub setting.
Johnathan stated: “We have a strong local committee for events at the village hall and church, and this includes The Six Bells Inn throughout the year, a vibrant village for its size.”

Charlie went further: “This is a family pub, a youth centre for children, when the restaurant isn’t being used, where they can play board games, and in the other part of the pub, adults can get together to celebrate match days over a pint, this is a proper community hub!”
In closing Kyle told the News: “It’s gone extremely well, the support is here, everyone has enjoyed themselves, its been a success, we didn’t want too many this evening. We have show cased what we are going to do, going forward, preserving the history of the Inn, projecting the history forward to future generations. These sorts of pubs are disappearing, but we want to preserve the ones that are left to continue them for future generations for everyone to enjoy!”
The Barry and District News was delighted to be part of this event, a real community hub in the rural Vale of Glamorgan.
