It’s thought that Toby-Alexander Smith, who plays serial killer Gray Atkins, will return to our screens after being jailed four years ago.

While Atkins is still serving his prison sentence for killing off a few EastEnders characters, it’s thought he’ll return to the BBC soap for a short stint, reports The Sun.

The newspaper said the evil character would return and “cause drama for more than one Walford resident”.

A source told The Sun: “Gray’s return is set to be explosive.

“He’s got unfinished business in Walford and fans won’t see it coming.”

However, the BBC told Newsquest it would not be commenting on his potential reappearance.

Who is Toby-Alexander Smith?

Toby-Alexander has appeared in a variety of films and TV shows over the years.

These include Berlin Station, Seeking Persephone and more.

He also starred in the BBC’s medical drama Doctors.

EastEnders stars to return after breaks

It was confirmed that EastEnders star Rudolph Walker, who plays Patrick Trueman, would be making a return to the soap this week.

Patrick’s reappearance comes after his short visit to Trinidad to see his son, Isaac.

Last month, it was announced that Christopher Fairbank, who played the evil Eddie Knight and last appeared in the BBC soap in 2024, will make a return this year.

An EastEnders spokesperson told Newsquest: “We can confirm Christopher Fairbank will be returning to EastEnders for a short stint later this spring.”

EastEnders’ top 5 villains

Currently, EastEnders is exploring a blood cancer storyline involving the character Denise Fox, played by Diane Parish, who recently celebrated being on the show for 20 years.

The BBC soap opera will see the salon manager diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia.

After experiencing unexplained tiredness, Denise undergoes a number of tests before receiving her diagnosis.

The storyline will explore its impact on the character and her loved ones in the months that follow and will play out across the rest of the year.

The soap worked closely with Blood Cancer UK to ensure the story is portrayed as accurately and sensitively as possible.
