Brewers Fayre will close all of its restaurants following a restructure of its owner Whitbread, which also owns Beefeater restaurants.
Whitbread has confirmed all UK Brewers Fayre restaurants will close on September 7.
The closures include the Barry Island restaurant at Triangle Site, Fford Y Mileniwm the Waterfront, Barry.
The news comes as Whitbread has also confirmed it will close all of its Beefeater restaurants on September 10, as revealed in a letter to the restaurant’s reward club members, seen by the Southend Echo.
The move is expected to cut around 3,800 jobs across the country.

The plans are part of a five-year overhaul plan to save £250 million by Whitbread, which has faced cost pressures from business rates and national insurance contributions.
In the letter to Beefeater Reward Club members, the company said it would close the loyalty scheme on August 31 ahead of any of its restaurant closures.
The Southend Echo shared what the letter said: “As you may have seen, we have recently announced changes to our business, which is resulting in the closure of our Branded Restaurants.
“This means that on Thursday 10 September 2026 your local Beefeater and all other UK Beefeaters will close.”
The restructuring will see Whitbread replace its 197 restaurants with an integrated food and drink model, which it said was more efficient and preferred by Premier Inn guests.
Why are so many UK pubs closing?
The company said it expects to retain a significant proportion of affected staff through redeployment, subject to employee consultation.
A previous restructuring in 2024 led to around 1,500 job losses.
Whitbread confirmed the closure dates with Newsquest and said it first announced its Accelerating Growth Plan “to sell a number of our Branded Restaurants in April 2024.”
It extended the programme “to include all remaining Branded Restaurants” which will enable it to “add a total of 3,600 new hotel extension rooms in locations where we know we have strong demand.”
It says it will proceed with these plans and will offer a breakfast and dinner option for guests at all of its hotels with a restaurant.
