Gü Indulgent Foods is recalling its Gü Blonde Chocolate Cheesecakes because it has been mispacked with a cheesecake that contains hazelnuts (nuts) which are not mentioned on the label.

The affected batch is those with a pack size of 2 x 82g, with the batch code 226044 and use by date of March 12, 2026.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has warned as the product may contain hazelnuts, this makes it a “possible health risk” for anyone with an allergy to hazelnuts (nuts).

Food Recalls Explained

It advises consumers: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to hazelnuts (nuts) do not eat it.

“Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

“No receipt required. For more information, please contact recall@gupuds.com.”

Gü Blonde Chocolate Cheesecakes are just one of the Gü sweet treats currently sold at Asda for £2.50.

The cheesecake is made with blonde chocolate caramel crème, layered over silky-smooth blonde chocolate cheesecake, followed by “another luscious layer” of blonde chocolate crème, on a crumbly, crunchy biscuit base.

Fred Ponnavoy, master patisserie chef commented about the Gü cheesecake creation: “We’ve given chocolate the golden touch, using blonde chocolate in three of the layers – almost 14% chocolate content, giving it a very creamy texture.

“We also added Guérande salt to enhance the caramelised notes in the chocolate.”

What is a food allergy alert by the FSA?

For those who are not aware of FSA allergy alerts, the government department responsible for protecting public health in relation to food, explains: “Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold.

“Then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product).

“Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk.

“When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert.”
