Fencing

Permission has been granted for the installation of vertical timber fencing at 33 Churchfields in Barry.

The new fence will replace an existing unauthorised metal barrier along the boundary of the property, which faces Priory Gardens.

All work must begin within five years of the approval date and follow the approved plans.

A green infrastructure statement accompanies the application, and all proposed biodiversity enhancements must be completed prior to the first use of the development.

These measures must be retained for the lifespan of the development, with any planting failures within five years to be replaced during the following planting season.

Photographic evidence of the completed enhancements must be submitted to the council within four weeks of installation.

Ancillary accommodation

Permission has also been granted for an ancillary accommodation chalet at The Hawthorns on Highlight Lane, Barry.

The unit is intended to provide assisted living for the applicant’s parents and is to be located in the northern section of the garden.

The single-storey structure will stand 3.45 metres high and sit 690 millimetres from the nearest boundary.

It will include a lounge-diner, kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms.

Biodiversity conditions require the submission of photographic evidence of completed enhancements within four weeks of installation.

The chalet must remain ancillary to the main dwelling and cannot be used as a separate residence.

Discharge of conditions

The council has approved an application to discharge conditions linked to a project at Cadoxton Primary School on Victoria Park Road, Barry.

The approved project will see the school building converted into a day care nursery.

Plans include the construction of a single-storey extension, a raised decking area, playground, car park, access ramp, and landscaping.

Conditions relating to materials, windows, doors, enclosure methods, biodiversity, landscaping and drainage have all been approved.

The council was satisfied that the submitted information was enough to satisfy the conditions.
