‘Now in a minute,’ one of six words or phrases typically used in Wales included in the latest edition of the dictionary, was famously used in the BBC sitcom when Stacey said: “I’ll do it now in a minute.”
Gavin responded: “Now in a minute, how can that possibly make sense? You’re either going to do it in a minute or do it now. It can’t be both.”
Stacey replied: “Yeah, I’m going to ring the Chinese now, in a minute.”
Other Welsh terms now featured in the dictionary include ‘Bwbach,’ a goblin from ancient folklore, and ‘bachgen,’ a term of endearment for a boy.
‘Boys bach,’ used for a group of boys or men, has also been added, along with ‘twpsyn,’ meaning idiot or fool, and ‘in one’s oils’ – meaning to be at ease.
