Wildfire Outbreak filmmaker rakes in international awards

by David Jones

Wildfire Outbreak UK, a chilling short horror film produced on a “very small budget,” has earned three awards and reached the finals in five film festivals across the globe.

Directed by Karl-James Langford, who also acted in the film, the project has received international accolades including Best Horror at Nepal’s Humro Film Festival.

A spokesperson for the project said: “It was beyond the dreams of its Director; who also acted in it, that Wildfire Outbreak UK would win three awards, and make the finals in 5 Film festivals around the world; so far.”

At this year’s Rome International Movie Awards, Wildfire Outbreak UK picked up three more honours – Best Thriller, Best Trailer and Best First Time Director – along with the festival’s iconic Capitoline Wolf statuette.

The awards continued in June when the film took home the Golden Hand award for Best Sci-Fi at the Hollywood Blood Horror Festival in Los Angeles.

Despite growing curiosity from film fans, the short has not yet been officially released, as it continues on the festival circuit.

However, in light of its success, a full-length feature film is already in development entitled Wildfire Outbreak UK: Containment Failed.

The script is written by Francis Nemo and will focus on the destructive effect obsessive compulsive disorder can have on the sufferer and their family, with a twist, asking “how can they survive in an apocalyptic world with zombies?”

Mr Langford, who also played a role in the original short, lives with OCD himself.
