Hannah Hyde, 39, of no fixed abode, Barry appeared before Cardiff Magistrates’ Court where she indicated guilty pleas to both offences.
On July 4, Hyde stole a selection of fragrance products worth £108 from Boots and food and coffee worth £45 from Tesco on July 28.
Magistrates sentenced the defendant to four weeks’ imprisonment for the Boots theft.
For the Tesco offence, Hyde received a further four-week prison sentence to run consecutively.
She was locked up for 24 weeks in total because she was in breach of a suspended jail sentence which was activated for similar offences.
Adam Burcher appeared for the prosecution with Matthew Ridler representing the defendant.
