I’m delighted to share the ‘hot off the press’ World Alzheimers Rehabilitation Report 2025. Its related to ‘rehabilitation’ for people living with Dementia both in the context of managing the impact of symptoms as a direct result of Dementia but also co-morbidity (every person living with Dementia will have 1-2 comorbid ‘rehab’ needs). Its relevant across all settings, specialist or not where people living with Dementia should be receiving ‘rehab’.
Its message is on person centred collaborative rehab, using the remaining capacities and not assuming PLWD aren’t ‘rehab’ worthy, with a strong emphasis on ‘rights based’ care. There’s very good definitions of rehab in the context of Dementia.
It hugely supports the work we’ve done in ABUHB with the Home Based Memory Rehabilitation service.
The AHP Dementia leads for Scotland and Wales are going to support the creation of summaries and resources about this report to reach different audiences and stakeholders.
Peter, I have also shared this with David (Dai) Davies, as the link with the other AHP Heads of service re MH. I’m keen it gets to everyone and anyone with an invested interest.
