On Thursday, March 5, Lounges cafés, including Penarth’s Ocho Lounge, are marking World Book Day with a packed programme of activities to inspire young readers and encourage a lifelong love of books.
The day will include a ‘Blind Date with a Book’, where children can choose from a selection of wrapped books labelled only with a few enticing keywords, giving them the chance to discover new genres and stories.
Other activities include a kids’ book swap, a book-themed craft corner and a costume catwalk for children to show off their World Book Day outfits.
Kate Eastwood, managing director at Lounges, said: “World Book Day is all about opening doors to new worlds, and we want every child to feel that spark of excitement.
“Whether they’re swapping a much-loved book, trying something completely new, or showing off a costume they’ve worked so hard on, we’re thrilled to give families a place to celebrate the joy of reading.”
The craft area will offer activities like bookmark-making, character drawing and book cover design.
Visitors are encouraged to check with their local Lounge for specific event details.
