The study are not looking for additional sites,- therefore no need for set up, etc-as with the ‘FIND ME’ study, but have requested help to support recruitment by sharing comms materials in Wales (the study flyer and newsletter/social media ad, attached above).
The study is looking to test the clinical and cost-effectiveness of an online support package (CareCoach) for family carers of people living with dementia.
The main inclusion criteria are adults currently providing informal/unpaid care or support for a person living with dementia (whose diagnosis is within the last 5 years).
HCRW asked if we could share the attached comms materials with our ABUHB Leads/Specialist colleagues, to share anywhere you think may be relevant (e.g: your wards/clinics/online/anywhere else).
I’ve accessed the QR code to take a look at their information & noted their social media posts & have myself already shared with my own family & friends. Would be another great opportunity for families/carers of our PLWD to get involved with Research & indeed another ‘string to bow’- in your growing ‘research active’ status as a department.
Age Cymru Response: Energy Cap Increase
Today’s announcement that the Energy Price Cap is to rise again in the Autumn is an additional cost pressure for older people across Wales.
We’re concerned for older people who are on a low and fixed income, who will worry about making ends meet this winter. We are urging energy companies to support older people this year amidst a backdrop of a continuing cost-of-living crisis.
Victoria Lloyd, Chief Executive at Age Cymru said: “Older people should be able to look forward to their later years with comfort and peace of mind, not with anxiety about having to choose between heating or eating, feeling cold or going into debt. Today’s news that energy prices will rise again, which has come just as temperatures drop, will leave many older people worried about the coming winter.”
“We must address the deepening fuel poverty. Our aim should not be about getting through one winter at a time as happens now, instead we must build a future in which no older person is left cold or struggling to afford the essentials. To achieve this requires fairer energy prices, properly insulated homes and a financial support system that tackles the scourge of fuel poverty for the long term.”
If anyone would like advice or further information they can call Age Cymru Advice on 0300 303 44 98 Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm, or email advice@agecymru.org.uk.
