Nationwide has issued a reminder ahead of a looming deadline
Nationwide is reminding people of an imminent deadline, with eligible customers set to receive up to £220 each in free bonuses.
The world’s largest building society has said that qualifying members could claim £100 cash alongside £120 worth of vouchers. However, Nationwide has confirmed the promotion will be withdrawn at 11.59pm tonight – Thursday, October 22. The incentives mentioned above are linked to its FlexStudent current account, aimed at first-year university students. According to Nationwide, the account “has quickly become a popular choice among freshers across the UK”.
The package includes an interest and fee-free arranged overdraft of up to £1,000 in the first year, £2,000 in year two, and £3,000 in the third year. For students to be eligible for these overdraft increases, they must deposit a minimum of £500 each term or have transferred at least £1,500 across two or more transactions during the previous year.
The FlexStudent account also offers commission-free spending and cash withdrawals when travelling overseas. To secure the cash reward and vouchers, students are required to open a new FlexStudent account before the cut-off date, deposit at least £500, and complete five debit card transactions by December 11, 2026, as reported by the Mirror.
Customers meeting these criteria will receive £100 within 14 days. Successful applicants will also be given a registration code allowing them to claim a £10 Just Eat voucher code each month throughout the first 12 months – amounting to £120 in vouchers in total.
FlexStudent account holders will gain exclusive access to FlexGraduate, a post-university current account offering an interest-free, fee-free arranged overdraft designed to assist students as they make the transition after university, providing them with breathing space to pay off their overdraft following the completion of their course.
Fred Powell, Head of Product at Nationwide Building Society, said: “The FlexStudent offer has proved hugely popular with students this year. With the incentives ending soon, we’re reminding anyone who wants to benefit from the offer to apply before the deadline.”
