Nissan and Mercedes have issued urgent recall notices for various issues that could lead to motorists being injured in an accident or at risk of vehicle fire
Major car manufacturers are urgently recalling 700,000 vehicles owing to serious safety concerns. Drivers are being told to “park outside and away from structures” because of the problems, which affect particular Nissan and Mercedes-Benz models.
The manufacturers have issued recall notices for several faults that could potentially result in motorists being injured during accidents or even facing the risk of vehicle fires.
Mercedes’ recall comes amid an expanding catalogue of battery-related safety initiatives throughout the electric vehicle industry. For example, Volvo recently recalled certain 2025 EX30 models owing to possible battery overheating concerns, reports Birmingham Live.
Meanwhile, Hyundai came under scrutiny following fire hazards connected to inadequately secured battery components in some Ioniq 5 vehicles. For the biggest stories in Wales first sign up to our daily newsletter here.
Nissan is recalling more than 640,000 Rogue SUVs from model years 2023–2025 across two separate recalls filed the same day, both tied to the vehicle’s 3-cylinder 1.5L VC-Turbo engine.
The two recalls (NHTSA 26V080 and 26V081) were both submitted on February 11, 2026, and share overlapping vehicle populations. Some 2024–2025 Rogue owners may be subject to both.
For both recalls, dealers will reprogram the ECM at no charge, with inspections to follow. Engine or throttle chamber replacements will be carried out free if needed.
Owner notifications are due to go out on March 27.
Mercedes is recalling certain 2023-2024 EQB 250+, 2022-2024 EQB 300 4MATIC, and EQB 350 4MATIC Mercedes Benz vehicles, with almost 12,000 included. Certain battery cells may lack sufficient durability when highly charged, heightening the risk of an internal short circuit.
In some instances, this could result in vehicle fire, regardless of whether the vehicle is stationary or being driven.
The NHTSA has issued an unusual “fire risk warning”, as the high-voltage battery may experience internal failure and trigger a vehicle fire whilst parked or in motion.
It advises: “Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete.
“Also, owners are advised to only charge their vehicles to a maximum of 80 per cent battery capacity until the remedy has been completed. Dealers will replace the high-voltage battery, free of charge.”
Motorists may encounter a battery warning whilst driving, though incidents involving parked vehicles may happen without advance warning.
An additional recall has been announced by Daimler Vans USA, the American commercial vehicle division of Mercedes-Benz, affecting 52,356 vehicles.
Specific 2020 and 2022-2023 Mercedes-Benz Metris right-hand-drive vehicles may possess an airbag that fails to deploy as designed.
