A new street art and music festival is coming to Barry

by David Jones

Barry’s first-ever Street Art Festival will take place in Central Park over the weekend of August 22-23, celebrating graffiti, music, and food in an event funded by the Barry Neighbourhoods Board and delivered in partnership with Paintworx Wales.

Kyle and Ceri from Hurts so good said: “We’re delighted to collaborate with the Barry Neighbourhoods Board to bring this free, inclusive, fun and vibrant festival celebrating the arts of graffiti, music and community.

“We want the festival to be as inclusive as possible, ensuring that everyone is welcome, and everyone can take part.”

The line-up includes 25 graffiti artists from across Wales who will create live artworks themed around ‘Barry’, with featured talent including KARM, CESTO, RMER, and NEWER.

Attendees can join hands-on workshops to create their own art, with a small fee for painting sessions to cover the cost of canvases.

David Stevens, chair of the Barry Neighbourhoods Board, said: “We’re excited to be supporting the Barry Street Art Festival and hope that residents get involved and have a great weekend.”

This is the second cultural event supported by the board, following the ‘Gig Ready Barry’ project earlier this year.
