Trespassers on a railway line are causing severe disruption on a busy Welsh route. Transport for Wales (TfW) said the incident has taken place at Briton Ferry, meaning services may be cancelled in both directions between Bridgend and Swansea.
It also says services may be delayed by up to 45 minutes, and that the incident is expected to last until 5pm, with disruption to services expected until 7pm.
TfW said in a statement: “We’ve been made aware of a trespass incident at Briton Ferry meaning we cannot run services through the area whilst British Transport Police are on the line dealing with the incident.

It adds: “We have limited road transport en-route to Swansea, Carmarthen, and Bridgend, provided by Cymru Coaches, Teulu Travel, Gower Mini Travel, and Glyn’s to assist customers to complete journeys where possible at no extra cost until 8pm.
“Road transport will take longer than rail services. Please allow extra time to complete your journey.”
The train provider said if any of its trains are delayed or cancelled and you arrive at your destination station more than 15 minutes later than scheduled, you can claim compensation through its delay repay scheme.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “We were called at around 3pm today (August 27) to reports to concerns for the welfare of a person on the tracks in the Briton Ferry area.
“Officers responded and a man was located. He was arrested on suspicion of obstructing the railway.”
