Barry Action for Nature members, along with supporters, are planning a beach clean on Sir David Attenborough’s birthday on Friday, May 8 at Whitmore Bay beach at 12.30pm.
The clean-up will be followed by tea, coffee, and birthday cake at beach hut 13 on the Eastern Promenade where participants will also have an opportunity to sign a giant birthday card for the broadcasting legend.
Barry Action for Nature said: “We have all benefited from the wonderful educational wildlife documentaries which David Attenborough has fronted over so many decades and it feels right that we take a little time to celebrate his wonderful contribution.”
The group will also fly Hen Harrier kites for Hen Harrier Day, which falls on May 9.
Hen Harrier Day highlights ‘the terrible persecution these birds of prey continue to suffer at the hands of a few misguided gamekeepers and hunters’.
