Detailed forensic investigation was carried out at the scene and now police want to hear from witnesses

A young man is in hospital with serious injuries following a multi-vehicle collision near one of Newport’s busiest roads.
Emergency services were called to a crash on the bridge between Blaina Wharf and the A48 Spytty Road during the afternoon of Friday, July 24.
The crash, which happened shortly before 1.50pm, involved a white Honda 300 motorcycle, a white Mercedes A160, and a grey Skoda Fabia.
A 21-year-old man from Newport, who was riding the motorcycle, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
He is continuing to receive treatment and is described as being “in a serious but stable collision”, according to Gwent Police.

Investigating officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the motorcycle travelling in the area to get in touch. They are also looking to receive any relevant dashcam footage.
A Gwent Police statement read: “Officers are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a serious road traffic collision in Newport on Friday, July 24. Officers were called at around 1.50pm to a report of a road traffic collision on the bridge between Blaina Wharf and Spytty Road, Newport.
“The collision involved a white Honda 300, a white Mercedes A160, and a grey Skoda Fabia.
“The rider of the motorcycle, a 21-year-old man from Newport, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains receiving treatment in a serious but stable condition.
“The road was closed for several hours whilst emergency services attended the scene and officers from the forensic collision investigation unit carried out a detailed examination. The road has since reopened.
“Investigating officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have seen the motorcycle travelling in the area immediately beforehand.
“We are particularly interested in speaking to motorists who were travelling in the area between 1.20pm and 2pm who may have captured footage on dashcam, particularly while travelling on Spytty Road, the bridge between Blaina Wharf and Morrisons Spytty, and Corporation Road and surrounding routes.
