The Vale of Glamorgan Council said high temperatures and increased volumes of waste have disrupted regular services.
A council spokesperson said: “Please continue to leave your recycling and waste at the kerbside, and our crews will collect it as soon as possible.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to catch up.”
Crews are working from Monday, July 20 on all outstanding collections in Cosmeston and Sully.
In the West End of Barry, crews are working from Tuesday, July 21 on all outstanding collections.
The council has asked residents to check its website for the latest service updates before reporting a missed collection.
If delays have already been reported in an area, residents do not need to log a missed bin report, as teams will return to complete the collections.
However, not all missed collections will be revisited.
If bins or containers were not placed out by 7am, contained incorrect materials, were overfilled, or were not the correct containers for that waste type, waste will not be collected.
Residents in these cases will need to resolve the issue and present their bins again on their next scheduled collection day.
Return collections will be arranged for properties registered for assisted collection, for black bag, hygiene, or food waste, or if entire streets have been missed.
The council does not return for single-property recycling collections.
Residents are advised to bring their recycling back in and present it on the following collection date, as kerbside recycling is collected weekly across the Vale.
