New data shows that the council spent £80,156 on compensation, the highest total in Wales.
This forms part of a wider picture across the country, with 17 Welsh councils collectively paying out more than £405,000 over three years for damage and injuries related to road defects.
The figures were revealed through Freedom of Information requests submitted by Legal Expert.
Councils also spent nearly £30 million repairing potholes during the same period.
The Vale of Glamorgan spent £6.6 million fixing 8,749 potholes, the highest repair cost in Wales.
Torfaen County Borough Council followed with a spend of £3.9 million.
Simon Williams, head of policy at RAC, said: “Potholes are often associated with cold or wet winters, but prolonged periods of hot, sunny weather also takes its toll on the roads.
“Intense UV exposure and heat gradually oxidise the bitumen that binds asphalt together, making surfaces more brittle and prone to cracking.
“Once cracks develop, traffic and later rainfall can quickly turn them into serious defects.
“After the exceptional heat of this summer it’s even more important that we maintain our roads properly.”
Mr Williams stressed the importance of surface dressing to prolong the life of roads.
He said: “We need to be surface dressing roads still in reasonable condition to keep them that way.
“This involves spreading chippings on to fresh bitumen binder and sealing them against the ingress of water, which is the enemy as it leads to cracking and potholes.”
