Loft conversion refused
A proposed loft conversion at 16 Archer Road has been refused.
The plans included a three-metre-wide rear dormer to accommodate a shower room, along with two conservation-style rooflights.
The council’s heritage planning officer raised concerns about the dormer’s scale and design, describing it as “out of character” with the surrounding conservation area.
The officer noted that while dormers exist nearby, they are of a more traditional style and smaller in scale.
The proposed dormer was considered a “wholly unbalanced development” that would be highly visible from the public realm and unsympathetic to the area’s character.
Flat conversion approved
Plans to merge three ground-floor flats at 91 Plymouth Road into a single extended unit have been approved.
The proposal includes a wraparound extension to the rear and side of the building, featuring full-width glazed patio doors and three full-height windows.
The reconfigured flat will include two bedrooms, an en-suite bathroom, and a hall.
The existing front entrance will remain in use for access to the upper-floor flats.
The council noted that the change would not normally require planning permission, as it remains within the same residential use class.
Extension approved
A two-storey side extension, single-storey rear extension, and new front porch have been approved at 7 Robinswood Crescent.
The side extension will include a garage and utility room on the ground floor, with two bedrooms above.
The rear extension will provide open-plan living, kitchen, and dining space, replacing an existing conservatory.
The council concluded that the proposals would not harm the character of the area or the amenity of neighbouring properties.
