Construction is continuing on the £49 million project
A major road closure has been announced as construction work takes place for the Skyline Swansea project, with drivers being warned to expect significant disruption.
The work, in the Landore area of the city, will take place from 8am until 5pm on Sunday, November 1, and will see the A4217 completely closed.
When complete, the £49 million project, at Kilvey Hill, will include an accessible cable car, downhill karting ‘luge’ rides, a free-to-access children’s adventure playground, a sky swing, and food and drink facilities – all with sweeping views of Swansea Bay. Here’s what drivers need to be aware of:
The closure will affect parts of the A4217, with traffic management and signed diversion routes in place throughout the day.
- A4217: The southbound lane between Brunel Way and White Rock Roundabout will be fully closed.
- A4217 / A4067 diversion route: Southbound traffic on the A4217 and A4067 will be diverted via Landore and Hafod on the west side of the river, using Brunel Way, Morfa Road, New Cut (A483) and rejoining the A4217 south of White Rock Roundabout.
- Pentrechwyth Road (B5444): Access will remain available in both directions, with a short section north of the A4217 junction operating under temporary traffic lights and single-lane traffic management.
Motorists should expect additional traffic on Foxhole Road and Kilvey Road during the day. Don’t let an algorithm decide what Welsh news you see – click here to add WalesOnline as your preferred Google source.
